Our County




The Kujawsko-pomorskie region is put in a middle-northern part of Poland.
There live 2103 thousand citizens in the region: 1023 thousand men and 1082 thousand women.
In the cities live 1297,4 thousand people, country side 806,2 thousand people.
An unemployment rate stands at 22,5%.


The region lies in area of the Vistula River with the inflows of: the Drwęca, the Brda and the Wda and the Noteć rivers . The Noteć with the Brda joins the Bydgoszcz water canal with the length of 24,7 km.
The region belongs for slightly woody areas, because wood is only 22,3 % of general surface. The most woody part is the northern part of the region. The biggest wood complex are: the Bory Tucholskie and the Puszcza Bydgoska.
Climate of the region climate is mild, between chilly and damp in north Poland, and dry in central Poland. The rainfall is estimated from 580 mm in the northern east part to 450 mm in the south-west part and it is estimated to be the lowest in Poland.



The main industrious centres are: Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Inowrocław, Grudziądz, Włocławek, Świecie, Kruszwica.
The important meaning for the region development is the communication net, that is well developed, here are the Roads joining north part of Poland with the south part, international ways such as: E 75 Gdańsk- Cieszyn, E10 Szczecin- Warszawa, E261 Świecie-Wrocław.



The region plays the huge science role due to the high schools’ centres in Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Włocławek.
Well-known high schools are: the Nicholas Copernicus University in Toruń, the Technical-Agricultural Academy in Bydgoszcz, the Bydgoska Academy, the Medical Academy and the Music Academy, the Humanistic – Economical High School, the Seminary in Włocławek.

The most attractive leisure area is the northern part of the region Bory Tucholskie, the area of Jezioro Koronowskie, Tleń, there are plenty of canoe tracks.
A big attraction is Brodnica Water District with many lakes such as Bachotek, Zbiczno, Sosno. The well-known place in Poland is Zalew Włocławski with the water stand, lake Gopło and the woody complex - Włocławsko-Gostyniński Park Krajobrazowy with many parks.
In Biskupin tourists may sightsee defensive colony of the łużycka culture that was built 2700 years ago.
In the region there are three well-known therapeutics spas: Ciechocinek, Inowrocław and Wieniec Zdrój.
